Whenever I move to a new home, one of the first things I do is seek out a great cup of coffee. Having a local spot where you know you can get the perfect cup of coffee—and maybe a bite to eat—is important. Luckily, The Batch Yard is situated near a few places that serve a tasty cup of joe!
One of the most popular local coffee shops is Common Ground Coffee Roasters, which is located in Everett about a mile-and-a-half from The Batch Yard. Common Ground does small-batch coffee roasting and has a cafe that serves its coffee as well as breakfast and lunch. With offerings like breakfast sandwiches, pastries, soups and salads, you can’t go wrong. And since Common Ground roasts its own coffee, you can pick up a bag of beans to take home.
Santana’s Plaza Cafe is a brazilian bakery and restaurant with great coffee, bread, pastries, sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads and much more. The extensive menu is very affordable and the portions are huge, ensuring you won’t leave hungry.
Just across the Mystic River in Somerville, J.P. Licks serves some of the area’s best coffee (and ice cream) at its new location at Assembly Row. J.P. Licks has been roasting coffee for 15 years and offers a variety of beans from around the world. In addition to regular hot and iced coffee, J.P. Licks serves a full line of espresso drinks, including the elusive affogato (vanilla ice cream with an espresso poured on top).
In neighboring Charlestown, Batch Yard residents will find Zume’s Coffee House, which serves tasty coffee, breakfast and lunch. Zume’s has an extensive hot and cold drink menu that includes drip coffee, caramel salted lattes and macchiatos. In addition to baked goods, you can start your day with yogurt, breakfast sandwiches or bagels. And for lunch, Zume’s a variety of sandwiches and wraps for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
Batch Yard residents don’t have to roam far to find a delicious cup of coffee and a tasty bite to eat at one of these area spots!
