When crisp white snow blankets the banks of the Mystic River, there’s something almost magical about strolling along its shores at Mary O’Malley Waterfront Park. With the beautiful Boston skyline rising above the icy water, a walk might provide the perfect escape from staying at home this winter.
True to its name, Mary O’Malley Waterfront park is surrounded by ebbing waves on almost all sides. The Island End River branches off from the Mystic River, bordering most of the park with waterfront views. Walk or jog along the path to breathe in the fresh air and drink in those views, and stop when you stumble upon the Fish sculpture by William Wainwright. It’s hidden amongst some trees near the water. On a warmer day, meet friends for a socially-distanced match on the tennis courts or enjoy lunch at one of the picnic tables.
